Puzzling
A huge number of identical robots are working together to assemble a giant jigsaw puzzle. The puzzle has several trillion pieces, each almost as big as a robot, initially scattered at random.
What drives the construction is robot-dopamine: each time a robot correctly connects two pieces, it receives a rush of it. What hinders the feat is that the robots are quite limited: Their vision reaches only a very small area around them, and they have little memory.
And yet the puzzle will grow, piece by piece, until one day it will be finished. Strangely, as the grand image forms, not one of them will ever see it. The robots will be blind to their own creation.
Lately, I've been empathizing with them more and more.
